The conference was held amongst many senior marketers, business owners and executives from various brands in Thailand.

Tom’s session includes many exciting highlights on the importance of providing an end-to-end customer experience in today’s digital world. According to Tom, technology changed the world, so much in the last 10 years, from human culture, to our own critical thinking as well as the economy we live in. Technology has been tearing down many businesses while creating many new opportunities. Consumers’ behavior has changed and marketers are in the middle of a more competitive marketplace than ever. The business competition has shifted from just products and pricing to deep knowledge and understanding of customers of which big and small data act as a backbone. Tom also stressed how important it is to collect the data and provide great experience at a digital and physical store, and the linkage between online and offline.

Moving forward, Tom also gives various examples of how different digital brands work hard to retain loyalty which is also another big issue in the marketplace today. Furthermore, he goes on to point out the existing problems in marketing these days as well as the rising trend of marketing automation methods that can assist human to do a better job. And everything goes back to the goal of providing a great customer experience along their journey.

“We talk a lot about Omnichannel, but most Asian agencies and marketers are still operating multi-channel and cross-channel campaigns. There are a lot of obstacles to Omnichannel, mainly due to the lack of tools and technology, but we have to start today or you will keep wasting more budget.”

In the conclusion, Tom explains how he sees the future of marketing and the very next step that businesses should do in dealing with big and small data.

Instagram Ads: Redefining the Parameters of Non-intrusive Advertising

What’s so compelling about advertising on Instagram? The action points are exactly as what you would do with a friend’s organic post! Instagram ads are essentially the typical Instagram photos and videos that seamlessly get displayed right there in your feed. For a while now, marketers have been talking about native advertising (aka. non-intrusive ads); Instagram is probably the most non-intrusive advertising option out there. The only difference is a small ‘sponsored’ mark at the top right-hand corner of the advertisement.

To like or to “dislike”, that is the question

Yes, we are talking about Facebook’s new dislike button, which turned out to not literally mean the thumbs-down icon. Mark Zuckerberg and his team launched Facebook in February, 2004. Five years later, the Like button was added and the world went crazy with ‘likes’. Why is the number of likes so important? In terms of psychology, likes essentially reflect a positive attitude towards oneself and one’s brand. It acts as a soft measurement of how many people like you and your brand. At times, it’s also a reflection of authentic feedback regarding certain topic or products (I am talking about organic likes FYI). Have you ever come across a page with low number of likes and then decide against liking the page and the posts yourself? If you compare two Facebook pages, the audience tend to end up following a page that has more likes.

Is Thailand Ready for Instagram?

Let’s begin with this basic question like what do you know about Instagram? An app for high definition photos? For teenagers who love selfie? No! Instagram is not an app just for showing off. It is a place people can look for inspiration and creativity through visual language. People can get connected around the globe and how we communicate is simple! Just capture and share.

Instagram was born in 2010. He is a baby with lovable charisma as he gains warm welcome from the earth just like when we embrace Facebook. It is notable that Facebook is already 12 years old in 2015, but some online marketers fortune that the little Instagram will seize the social media throne one day. Whether they are friends or frenemies, it is note-worthy for us to prepare for Instagram.

Looking at the timeline, it takes less than five years to become the app almost everyone has! Why? I believe the Instagram users loves to see and to be seen. They have a chance to be photographers despite the level of amateur to the professional. Some users definitely own smartphones, DSLR, mirrorless lens, retro cameras, compacts and etc. Things get snapped and shared easier when you carry a multifunctional smartphone all the time. Just tap-tap and you can give love to the photos you like(or the person who uploads it A-hem!)
