Today 8 June, 2018, Syndacast’s Managing Director, Mr. Tom Nguyen joins the E-Biz Expo Asia 2018 in Bangkok as the keynote speaker. His one hour session titled “Brand transformation in the digital landscape” covers the key highlights that Tom Nguyen has learned over his past 15 years from various digital marketing practices.

Unlike his usual technical marketing talks, this session was an interesting story on branding, how brands evolve from just a logo to a visual style, and what most people expect today from a brand, and what are needed for brand design today considering the complexity of the digital landscape.

Together with showing some real life examples, Tom also gives an interesting views in modern history and how technology has been changing our culture, consumer behavior and marketing.

Throughout this story-telling session, there are some key messages:

  • The digital culture is a part of our lives. Marketers should not draw a clear cut between offline and online, traditional vs digital. As the customer journey gets more complex, the seamless experience is needed.
  • The brand design must start from studying the customers’ value and expectation.  Branding no longer is about controlling your visual design or your tone of voice as brands are not in charge anymore.
  • Last but not least, digital brand design must also be built upon the learning of: brand appearance and communication, brand behavior and brand performance.

Syndacast on Omnichannel Marketing and Customer Experience

Today 23 April 2018, at The Landmark Hotel Bangkok, our Company Director, Tom Nguyen is the guest speaker at the Asia Business Connect conference on: OmniChannel Marketing, Customer Insights & Experience Management in the Digital Age. The conference was held amongst many senior marketers, business owners and executives from various brands in Thailand.

Tom’s session includes many exciting highlights on the importance of providing an end-to-end customer experience in today’s digital world. According to Tom, technology changed the world, so much in the last 10 years, from human culture, to our own critical thinking as well as the economy we live in. Technology has been tearing down many businesses while creating many new opportunities. Consumers’ behavior has changed and marketers are in the middle of a more competitive marketplace than ever. The business competition has shifted from just products and pricing to deep knowledge and understanding of customers of which big and small data act as a backbone. Tom also stressed how important it is to collect the data and provide great experience at a digital and physical store, and the linkage between online and offline.

Moving forward, Tom also gives various examples of how different digital brands work hard to retain loyalty which is also another big issue in the marketplace today. Furthermore, he goes on to point out the existing problems in marketing these days as well as the rising trend of marketing automation methods that can assist human to do a better job. And everything goes back to the goal of providing a great customer experience along their journey.

“We talk a lot about Omnichannel, but most Asian agencies and marketers are still operating multi-channel and cross-channel campaigns. There are a lot of obstacles to Omnichannel, mainly due to the lack of tools and technology, but we have to start today or you will keep wasting more budget.”

In the conclusion, Tom explains how he sees the future of marketing and the very next step that businesses should do in dealing with big and small data.

And finally, Tom’s one-hour talk ends with various questions and answers, from how to deal with negative comments on social media, to the operations of Omnichannel marketing.

Evolution of New Tourism Feeder Markets in Thailand

TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) is showing great interest in tapping new potential markets. When the January 2017 statistics are compiled, Thailand expects to see high growth in visitor arrivals from Brazil, Russia, Argentina, Cambodia, and Saudi Arabia. These and other emerging markets are still small in size compared with the larger ones, however, the growth has opened the Thailand Government’s eyes towards new markets with stable economies which could potentially become the next major source of arrivals.

This article will focus on three major countries: Brazil, Saudi Arabia and South Africa. These three countries are chosen for a deeper analysis as they are as yet unexplored by campaign media and are growing fast, and most importantly the Thailand government’s efforts are being focused in these markets.

Saudi Arabia is the country with the highest growth in tourist arrivals between 2014 and 2016 with 72%, while Brazil is the second highest with 16%. Although South Africa has a comparatively smaller growth of 4% over the same period, it remains an important part of this analysis due to it bringing the highest volume of tourists among these three countries.

While currently, they may still make up a small percentage of the 30 million tourist arrivals in Thailand every year; they do possess immense potential for the future.
